HAVE YOUR SAY - Articulate, 497 Parramatta Rd, Leichhardt - 18 to 20 December, 2015

'Have Your Say' was the end of year exhibition for Articulate Project Space.  From the Articulate website - "Have Your Say is our 2015 end-of-year exhibition of spatial and experimental artwork by artists who have previously shown at Articulate. This year Articulate was prompted by the social and political crises facing the world to invite artists to have their say—about climate change, war, refugees, extinctions, the environment, the TPP or other concerns artists have".

My contribution was 4 gouaches from my "Nothing To Say Here" series in which arrangements of circles and squares are determined by random artists' quotes.  The 4 works shown were - 'An Empty Canvas is Full', 'A Line is a Dot That Went For a Walk', 'The Task of Art is to Bring Chaos Into Order' and 'The Job of the Artist is to Deepen the Mystery'.

DIRECTORS SHOW 2015 - Factory 49, 49 Shepherd St, Marrickville - 26 November to 6 December 2015

The 2015 Directors Show in the Office Project Space at Factory 49 included work by myself and Marlene Sarroff, and introduced the new Directors for 2016 - Tania Alexander, Michelle Le Dain, Anya Pesce and Lisa Sharp.

My work was two gouaches on paper - prototypes for a series of "Nothing To Say Here" paintings that had been initiated by the painting that I made for "Bad Spelling" called "I have nothing to say and I am saying it".

CARREMENT2 - Factory 49, 49 Shepherd St, Marrickville - 26 November to 5 December, 2015

Carrement2 was the final exhibition for the year at Factory 49 and the final exhibition that I was involved with as a Director.
Carrement is an artist collective based in Paris founded by Milija Belic.  Carrement2 at Factory 49 was the first of the collectives' exhibitions to be held outside of Paris.  It contained the work of 30 International Artists and was organised by Bogumila Strojna. My work was the large 'Circle Square Construction' that I had sent for the previous Carrament exhibition.

WALL WORK - Factory 49, 49 Shepherd St, Marrickville - 3 Sept to 12 Sept 2015

"Wall Work" was a solid wall of cardboard cubes tied together with yarn.  It was the first time that I had exposed the 'ends' of the boxes where the overlapping flaps created a greater variation of colour.  As usual, the arrangements of colour were random, as was the 'orientation' of the overlapping ends.  It was also just a single layer of boxes with no corners or turns, so was a bit of an experiment as to whether it would stay upright throughout the exhibition as it depended entirely on its own balance.

I exhibited alongside it "Wall Work-Yarn" - a crocheted piece constructed from the discarded yarn of previous cube works.

BAD SPELLING - Affiliated Text, Cross Art Books, 33 Roslyn St, Potts Point - 3rd June to 10th July 2015

BAD SPELLING was an Affiliated Text exhibition curated by Robert Lake at Cross Art Books. It involved 16 artists - Clementine Barnes, Sophie Coombs, Christine Dean, Dara Gill, Barbara Halnan, Andrew Hurle, Deliah King, Emma Langridge, Kate Mackay, Michael McIntyre, Jane O’Neill, Luke Parker, Robert Pulie, Elvis Richardson, Nick Strike and Simon Yates.

The Affiliated Text project of Bronia Iwanczak and Lynne Barwick explored visual representations of language, with Bad Spelling focusing on abstract forms of language and interpretation.

My immediate response to the exhibition guidelines was my favourite quote from John Cage - "I have nothing to say and I am saying it" which I interpreted in a 'circle square' painting.  This work has now led me on to a new series of  'artists quotes' paintings - thank you Robert Lake!

COLOUR ON THE CONCRETE - UTS Gallery, Lvl 4, 702 Harris St, Ultimo - 26 May to 26 June 2015

"Colour on the Concrete explores different approaches and uses of colour and abstraction within the UTS Art Collection linking art, design and architecture from the late 1960's to contemporary art practice" from the catalogue by Janet Ollevue, May 2015.

Janet Ollevue curated an exhibition combining existing works from the collection with invited contemporary artists.  A number of works were displayed in the UTS Gallery alongside the plates from a first edition of Josef Albers' Interaction of Colour, while a self-guided art walk around the Campus presented the diverse UTS collection.

CLICK HERE for the link to the UTS exhibition posting providing the full catalogue and images of many of the works from the collection.

I created a CUBE COLUMN where the form was built around an existing concrete column within the gallery space.

I exhibited a strange little thing that I called “CORNER SUITE” in the Office Project Space at Factory 49.  It consisted of crocheted cubes tied together and strung up in the corner...
