Six of one and half a dozen of the other - First Draft 2/27 Abercrombie St Chippendale - 1st September to 18th September 1988

'Six of one and half a dozen of the other' was my first exhibition after graduation.  It was with Helga Groves and it took place at First Draft, when the gallery was in Abercrombie St, Chippendale. I still have some of the works - some had been removed from their stretchers and rolled up.  (Strangely, these have some similarities with paintings I am making now).  Some works incorporated patterned fabric and crocheted panels, while others took their imagery from embroidery patterns.
I have also included the invite and catalogue, with an essay by John Young.

About the Blog

This blog will attempt to be a record of my art practice - a sort of illustrated CV and archive beginning in 1988.  I want to see how much I remember about the exhibitions that I have been in... It will include images of works where available, as well as the peripheral invites, letters and catalogues that accompanied the exhibitions - in the days when letters where typed, catalogues came from the printshop and invitations arrived in the mail.
It may be quite interesting - or it could just be self-indulgent.....
